Winter and Spring Meetings at the Tavistock Parish Centre


Tuesday 10th January
A.G.M. chaired by the Hon President, Gerry Woodcock and followedby the President's Lecture - The Vicars of Tavistock Parish Church.

Tuesday 14th February   The  History of Dartmoor Farming - a talk by Colin Pearse.

Tuesday 13th March   Saltash Heritage and the River Tamar - a talk by John
Parsons.


Tuesday 10th April  Mike Kingham talks on the history of the Tavistock fire Service.

Summer Outdoor meetings

Tuesday 8th May   

May 8  Tavistock buildings with date plates-  a walk around Tavistock led by Alex Mettler.
(Meet outside Tavistock Museum at 7pm)


Monday 29th May - Day Trip to Boconnoc House with a morning guided  walk around historic Looe.
(meet coach outside Bedford Hotel 08.30 am)

Tuesday 26th June  A walk around Plymouth Road Cemetery led by  Alex Mettler.
(Meet in the Cemetery grounds at 7pm)

Tuesday July 10th The importance of Tavistock in relation to its inclusion in a World Heritage Site - a walk conducted by Stephen Gill
(Meet outside Tavistock Museum at 7pm)


Tuesday July 24th    Evening walk around Moretonhampstead village -led by Gary Cox, Moretonhampstead History Group. 
(Meet 7pm Court Street car park, Moretonhampstead)


Tuesday 14th August  A visit to Tavistock Abbey Farm, Hurdwick led by Tom Greeves and Ann Cole.

Autumn meetings at the Tavistock Parish Centre

Tuesday 13th September John Manley talks on the Tamar Valley in the mid nineteenth century.

Tuesday 2nd October  Members' Projects evening
(This meeting is earlier in the month than usual because of Goose Fair)

Tuesday 13th November  Haytor granite tramway and the Stover Canal
- a talk by Helen Harris.


Tuesday 11th December Christmas Social


We meet at Tavistock Parish Centre on Plymouth Road at 7.00 pm on the second Tuesday in the month with the exception of October which is the first Tuesday due to Goose Fair. Tea, coffee and biscuits are available before the meeting. Talks begin at  7.30. pm  and are free for members. Non-members are very welcome on payment of a small entry fee.
Outdoor meetings are also on a Tuesday  with the exception of the Boconnoc visit on a Bank Holiday Monday.
